The Reds finishe third in Jurgen Klopp’s final season at Anfield and a natural drop-off was expecte under Arne Slot, who arrive from Dutch giants Feyenoord.

But Liverpool have occupie top-spot in the Premier League for most of the season and extende their lead over second-place Arsenal to 15 points at the weekend.

Liverpool will put their Premier League aspirations to one side this week as they face Paris Saint-Germain for a place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League and meet Newcastle United at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final.

Slot’s side were second best for much of the first leg against PSG but Alisson produce the performance of his life to keep the French champions at bay before Harvey Elliott score late on to snatch a 1-0 win.

Five days after their Champions League knockout game, Liverpool travel to Wembley to face a Newcastle side who outplaye Arsenal to reach the Carabao Cup final.

Neville believes the Premier League title is already ‘in the bag’ for Liverpool and expects them to triumph in next weekend’s domestic cup final, but believes they will come up short in the Champions League.

‘They’ve got big games coming up but I think that’s a positive for Liverpool,’ he said on his ‘They don’t have time to think.

‘It will be a hell of a game at Anfield this week, it will be a brilliant game. The atmosphere will be sensational and Liverpool will be right up for it.

‘They won’t be complacent in the league but they’ve got this, the title is in their hands. They haven’t just got one hand on the trophy, the ribbons are already being change as we speak.

‘The title is massive for Liverpool, winning that is big. To get level with United on league titles and to win a title in Arne Slot’s first season is a huge achievement.

‘They will have scares but they’ve got more than enough. The teams behind them are not dipping, they’re going further behind never mind catching them up.

‘Liverpool have got it in the bag, I think they will win it in April. The Champions League is a different story, it can be over in a one-off game.

‘I’m not quite sure I see them winning it – you can never write them off obviously – but I don’t quite see it.

‘It wouldn’t surprise me actually if they went out this week. It’s a 50-50 game for me, either team would easily win, PSG are a good side.’
